It seems like the lexicon is going to be more of general thing, and not specifically focused on BDSM. Maybe it’s just my own sex lexicon, on both sex (the actual practice of fucking in all it’s many forms) and sex (gender). I considered calling it a “sexicon,” but that sounded way more clever in my head than it looks on the screen.

For your information and amusement, I present the 5th installment in Dumb Domme’s BDSM Lexicon, “rimming.”

rimming or rim job for anal stimulationrimming, n., /ˈrɪmɪŋ/ (IPA)  [rim-ing]  (spelled)

Definition:

rimming, n.: anilingus. The act of orally stimulating a partner’s anus by licking, tonguing, kissing, etc.

Usage:

“I’m surprised at the number of women who have never enjoyed a proper rimming.” (J said that! Ha!)

“When you think about it, rimming isn’t all that much different from kissing… except that asses don’t have tongues and don’t kiss back…. Okay, maybe it’s totally different.”

Fun Facts:

“Rimming” is in the Oxford English Dictionary, defined as “the action of rim. [. . .] To stimulate the anus of (a person) with the tongue or mouth, as a sexual act.” I’m glad the OED specified the stimulation of “a person” and made sure to note it is a “sexual act.” Thanks OED, for making me think of the alternatives to that. If you’ll excuse me, I need to go scrub my brain….

The OED also notes that the first written account of “rimming” was recorded in 1941 in G. W. Henry’s Sex Variants. The exact quote: “He would ask me to bugger him and vice versa. We never did rimming. I’ve had it done on me in Turkish baths when I was hard up and went there for that purpose.”

Dumb Domme Commentary:

“Rimming Salt” is for margaritas. Some adult companies sell  novelty “Rimming Sugar” for application to the butt. It’s not a good idea to put novelty sugar on your butt. It’s a terrible idea to put salt on your butt. It’s really best to avoid both. And margaritas… avoid them too.

Heh, I cannot count the number of things that seem like great ideas in my head or even sound good out loud, but look so awkward or fall flat in the plain dry text of a blog post or e-mail message.

Thanks for this delightful post about rimming! Your commentary and "editorial comments" are very cute.

I know! It always pains me when I have to delete something that sounded brilliant in my head, but doesn't translate on screen for whatever reason. Although, I'm not sure "sexicon" sounded that good, even in my head. :)
